Trimming the ads out of a recording, lifting one passage, tidying the ends of a capture: simple enough to describe, and out of reach in every editor that assumes you can see the timeline. Accessible Media Editor takes the trimmer from Accessible Media Converter and grows it into an editor of its own. It is early days — the version number still starts with a zero.
Features
- Cuts land on the exact frame. In copy mode, only the groups of pictures clipped at each end are re-encoded; everything between them is copied untouched, audio included. The one-to-two-second drift of keyframe-aligned cuts is gone. Proven against real streams, MKV and TS with bidirectional frames.
- Timecodes go in by frame. “Go to position” takes the SMPTE form
HH:MM:SS;FF, where the last field is a frame number, converted using the file’s true frame rate. Marks written down in a frame-accurate editor can be typed straight in. - It opens on a screen, not a file dialog. The app starts on a home screen. Ctrl+O opens a file, Ctrl+V pastes the one you just copied in Explorer — or simply its path. Closing the file brings the home screen back.
- The foundations have seen service. The segment model, the audio engine, and the export path all come from Accessible Media Converter, where they have run for dozens of releases.
- All keyboard, with NVDA. wxPython for the interface, embedded FFmpeg for the work. Nothing to install alongside.
