Apprenti Clavier

Learning AZERTY one key at a time, by ear.

A web page, and nothing else. No install, no account, no dependencies. Apprenti Clavier teaches the AZERTY keyboard to people who cannot see it: what happens on screen is announced to the screen reader, on the Mac as on Windows.

Features

  • Two ways in. Standard mode or Beginner mode, chosen during the introduction and remembered from one session to the next.
  • Beginner: take your time. A path of 50 units — a description, then an exercise — with three families of guided exercises.
  • Standard: keep moving. Six lessons and five exercises, from letters drawn at random all the way to full sentence dictation.
  • The screen reader is told, never talked over. Two ARIA live regions split the work: an assertive alert for what cannot wait, a polite status for everything else.
  • Nothing to install, nothing to lose. It all lives in the browser, with Windows and Mac variants, an introduction that has you pick a mode, and a settings reset for when you want a clean start.
